Ingredients:
4 Fieldstone Bakery Honey Buns
4 cups chopped apples (any variety)
1 lemon (for juicing)
2 tablespoons salted butter
¼ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Optional topping: whipped cream
Directions:
Preheat your waffle iron.
Lightly spray or butter the waffle iron to prevent sticking.
Place a Honey Bun in the center of the waffle iron and close the lid.
Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the Honey Bun is golden and crispy on the outside.
Meanwhile, prepare the cinnamon apples. Peel, core, and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Squeeze lemon juice over the apples to prevent browning.
In a pan with high sides or a cast iron skillet, melt butter over low heat. Add the brown sugar, white sugar, and cinnamon, stirring until melted.
Add the chopped apples to the pan and cook for 12-14 minutes, stirring frequently until the apples are softened.
Remove the waffle from the iron, top with warm cinnamon apples, and serve immediately. Add a few dollops of whipped cream on top if desired.
